Spiritual Bypass or Breakthrough - Three Keys for Practical Spiritual Transformation

Longing to Know our Divine Essence

Whether we consciously recognize it or not, from my perspective, we are all called to a greater awakening into Spirit, into the awareness of being part of the great presence of God, the creative Intelligence behind all universes. We long to know our connection, our oneness with that Divinity.

Human Experience Doesn't Always Line Up with Spiritual

Spiritual Bypass or Breakthrough - Three Keys for Practical Spiritual Transformation

At the same time, we live in a very material, very human world. We make choices and have experiences that don't always line up with spiritual reality.

Bypass or Breakthrough?

In counseling with people who are on a spiritual path, I've found two distinct approaches to dealing with human experiences that might block our greater experience of the Divine, not to mention blocking greater happiness and success in daily living.

Perhaps because we don't know there is a more effective approach, some of us habitually choose a spiritual by-pass. That's when we have an inner challenge and instead of going deeply within, facing the discomfort, and doing the work required to resolve the issue or heal the hurt, we say some positive words and pretend or hope the issue will go away.

Sometimes we choose the spiritual bypass because of fear of what we would have to face inwardly -- shame, guilt, judgments, negative self-perceptions, the pain of old wounds. We skate around the issue, tell ourselves it's okay, repeat a few positive statements, but inwardly something still goes, "Clunk."

Practical Spiritual Breakthroughs

Some of us have learned how to create consistent practical spiritual breakthroughs. That's when we do actually acknowledge, lovingly confront and embrace the issues that demand attention. In so doing, we release them, creating an opening for greater awareness of our own Divine Essence -- our own peace, loving, truth, joy, harmony, upliftment and Light. A remarkable author and teacher, John-Roger, has said repeatedly that It takes great courage to see the face of God because first you have to look at your own.

Many times we have to address these inner challenges over and over, gently chipping away chunks of the "icebergs" in our unconscious. Or we can think of it as peeling an onion. We get a breakthrough, experience more peace and loving, but a few months later the issue comes around again and we get to explore and break through to a deeper level.

How to Create Your Own Practical Spiritual Breakthroughs

How can you create more of these practical spiritual breakthroughs, clearing space to connect with your Divine Essence more often and more completely?

Go for the deeper work available in your own challenging situations. If necessary, get some short term counseling support from someone who understands these processes and has done their own deep work for spiritual growth.

Three Keys for Transformation

Here are three simple keys you can apply within your own quest for spiritual breakthroughs.

1) Accept what is.

Look deeply and dare to see it for what it is. Affirm, "I am willing to see this clearly."

2) Love all of yourself,

Even the parts of you that don't seem to cooperate. Consciously apply loving to each seemingly negative aspect and allow it to transform itself. Dialogue with caring and appreciation for whatever that aspect is teaching you. Say, "I love you. I'm listening. Is there anything you want to say to me now?"

3) Forgive yourself

As often as necessary for your consciousness to shift from judgment to acceptance and loving. Say, "I forgive myself for judging myself as . . . (a quality like stupid) or for . . . (doing or thinking or saying whatever it was)."

Linear Regression Analysis - When NOT to Center a Continuous Predictor Variable

There are two reasons to center predictor variables in any time of regression analysis - linear, logistic, multilevel, etc.

1. To lessen the correlation between a multiplicative term (interaction or polynomial term) and its component variables (the ones that were multiplied).
2. To make interpretation of parameter estimates easier.

But when is centering NOT a good idea?

Linear Regression Analysis - When NOT to Center a Continuous Predictor Variable

Well, basically when it doesn't help.

For reason #1, it will only help if you have multiplicative terms in a model. If you don't have any multiplicative terms - no interactions or polynomials - centering isn't going to help.

For reason #2, centering especially helps interpretation of parameter estimates (coefficients) when:

a) you have an interaction in the model
b) particularly if that interaction includes a continuous and a dummy coded categorical variable and
c) if the continuous variable does not contain a meaningful value of 0
d) even if 0 is a real value, if there is another more meaningful value, such as a threshold point. (For example, if you're doing a study on the amount of time parents work, with a predictor of Age of Youngest Child, an Age of 0 is meaningful and will be in the data set, but centering at 5, when kids enter school, might be more meaningful).

So when NOT to center:

1. If all continuous predictors have a meaningful value of 0.
2. If you have no interaction terms involving any continuous predictors with categorical ones.
3. And if there are no values that are particularly meaningful.

All three of these criteria should apply before you choose to not center. If any one is false, centering will help you interpret your coefficients.

Sales Training Tips - 7 Ideas Proven To Boost Sales

Many people, including some in the sales profession, believe that sales training is a waste of time and money. A popular belief is that sales people are born to sell, and that an individual either "has it" or they don't, and nothing can be done to change it.

This belief has been proven to be wrong. Selling is a learned skill. Many of the beliefs about the skills required for success are much different than those actually necessary.

Below is a list of truths about the sales profession:

Sales Training Tips - 7 Ideas Proven To Boost Sales

Sales is a learned skill. A sales rep will never reach their true potential until this fact is accepted. True professionals study and practice the skills proven to be effective and continue sales training throughout their career.

Sales calls can be made any time. Many sales reps actually believe sales calls can only be made after 9:00 or before 3:00. The professional knows someone prefers 7:00 a.m. and others work evenings. Professionals find people to see them for a full day every day.

The minds controls most sales. This is why many sales come in succession. It's often called a lucky streak, but it isn't. It is the sales rep "assuming the sale" without faking it. The previous sale programs the brain to believe the next one will buy also, and it often happens as a result. It is a 100% true belief the buyer is going to buy today.

Good telemarketing is critical. Work backwards and determine how many calls are necessary to develop a full week of appointments. This number is the amount of calls that must be made each week.

Increase selling time. The only time that is real "value added" is the time spent with the prospect or customer. The time getting an appointment, traveling to and from locations, completing paper work, and attending meetings is an incidental necessity, but not value added. Do all of these tasks outside of the high value added hours. Increasing value added selling time can be learned using lean manufacturing and six sigma principles.

Learn to Close. Closing is the most learned skill in the profession. When a prospect objects about the price, color, service, or anything else, the sales pro knows exactly how to respond down to the specific words. At the point of the objection, there is no time to think. All thought should be directed toward body language and preparing the next 3-4 steps in the sales cycle.

Learn sales techniques. Techniques are not tricks, and no sales rep would be effective trying to trick someone into buying. Some believe closing is using tricks but it is not true. It is simply being an effective negotiator helping the customer make a buying decision. For example, with a service objection such as the length of after-sale service being too short, the sales rep should use a "right angle close". This negotiation is simply stating the answer with a buying question, such as "If I can get the two week service changed to four, will you give us a try today"?

How Can H Pylori Cause Anxiety and Depression?

It is well known that H. pylori can cause digestive symptoms such as heartburn, reflux, bloating, nausea and vomiting. However, the knock on effects of bacterial and parasitic infections can be profound and may cause seemingly unrelated symptoms.

Research has clearly shown that H. pylori can cause vitamin B12 deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia.

Typically, in medical research other nutrients are not studied. However nutritionists who use advanced laboratory testing techniques commonly see deficiencies in vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6 when patients have digestive infections. It is also not uncommon to see amino acid and fatty acid insufficiencies.

How Can H Pylori Cause Anxiety and Depression?

If the body becomes nutritionally depleted as a result of H. pylori and other digestive infections, symptoms can develop elsewhere in the body.

For example, amino acids are required for the production of thyroid hormone and the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. B6 is required for the formation of dopamine. If these chemicals are low in the body, depression, anxiety and fatigue can easily set in.

Typically SSRI antidepressant drugs will be prescribed in these situations but the key to successful treatment is actually to ensure the gut is functioning properly. This means removing H. pylori, other infections and ensuring proper digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Convenient and inexpensive urine testing can be employed to evaluate nutritional status and short-term supplementation can be used to replenish specific nutrient levels.

It is known that H. pylori and other digestive infections cause inflammation in the digestive tract. H. pylori is well known as a major cause of gastritis.

Inflammation always requires an anti-inflammatory response. The body's anti-inflammatory hormones are cortisol and cortisone. High levels of inflammation lead to higher than normal levels of cortisol. Because cortisol is a stimulatory hormone, high levels can lead to anxiety and panic.

An increased demand for cortisol also leads to a reduction in the sex hormones - progesterone, oestrogen and testosterone. Imbalances in these hormones can cause a multitude of symptoms, including depression, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, period pains, acne and more.

If the H. pylori is not dealt with and the inflammation continues, the cortisol levels will start to drop as the adrenal glands where it is made become fatigued. Low cortisol can also cause mood symptoms.

Doctors tend to overlook digestive infections as a cause of mood problems but the reality is that if a patient cannot absorb nutrients and has imbalanced hormones, mental and emotional symptoms are almost inevitable.

Wedding Reception Food Ideas That Stretch Your Budget : How To Self-Cater Fancy Appetizers

Wedding reception foods do not have to be expensive. The ideas for stretching a small wedding budget are as unlimited as the imagination!

Any bride can have fancy appetizers at her wedding reception.

So what is the secret?

Wedding Reception Food Ideas That Stretch Your Budget : How To Self-Cater Fancy Appetizers

How can a bride with a tiny budget have fancy appetizers? The secret to having fancy appetizers on a small budget can be found in the freezer of a smart, budget-conscious bride months before her wedding day.

By starting months in advance and devoting one morning, afternoon, or evening a week to baking freezable appetizers, the budget-conscious bride can amass a delicious collection of appetizers for her wedding reception.

Delicious savory spanokopita, tiropita, miniature quiches, bruschetta, baby crab cakes, tea breads, mexican wedding cakes... the list is unlimited!

Yes, you truly can have the food you want at your wedding reception! If you are willing to think outside the box, tie an apron on yourself once a week in the months preceding your wedding day, and ask for some help from family and friends you will be able to have the food you want at your wedding reception.

Having the dream wedding foods you want at your wedding reception is not something that is only available to some brides! Every bride can indeed have a wedding menu that delights the taste buds.

Maybe you are thinking "I want lobster or surf and turf." And you are thinking there is no way that you can afford lobster and filet mignon.

I ran into this situation hundreds and hundreds of times as a caterer. I can tell you that every single time I was able to come up with a creative and affordable solution that fit the bride's budget.

Even though the wedding reception budget did not allow for lobster tails for each guest, it did allow for a delicious lobster sauce to be served with a more economical, yet delicious dish. While the wedding reception budget did not allow for 8 oz. of filet mignon for each guest, perhaps it allowed for a delightful appetizer that incorporated a tender beef morsel into a flaky phyllo pastry. Again, I want to reiterate that the creative solutions for your wedding reception are truly unlimited. If you are willing to think outside the box, tie on an apron once a week, and ask for help - the solutions will be provided to you.

How to Deal With Overbearing Personalities

Well all have those people in life who are just a little bit wearing on the spirit. You know who I mean. Their intentions are good, yet they always manage to stir things up. Sometimes it feels like you can't get anything done when they're around. They're criticizing, they're correcting, they're meddling. They're giving you all the reasons why you can't (when you know that you CAN!).

So how do you accomplish anything when overbearing friends and relatives are all up in your face and playing self-appointed cruise director or drill sergeant? How to maintain some semblance of self-respect and dignity around these people?

1. Erect boundaries. Although at times you feel like booting the overbearing person right out of your life... we all know that this is not always possible. Maybe they're your coworker, someone in your circle of friends... maybe it's your mother or your brother! The best thing to do in that case is to keep it on friendly terms but control the situation. Some ideas:

How to Deal With Overbearing Personalities

o Relocate. If you live with them... move out! It's not healthy to be around someone who is impeding your personal growth. No need to broach this topic in an accusatory way. Just explain that it's time to make a go of it on your own.

o Limit contact. If they're a frequent visitor... try to arrange it so they're only showing up X times in a month. Politely discourage drop-in visits and weekend stays if you can.

o Limit context. For example, if it's your coworker, keep it friendly at the office but don't go out of your way to hang with them at happy hour.

2. Let go of the guilt. Just because you love someone doesn't mean you have to like them. Many people suffer a great deal of unnecessary guilt over this. They think that because they feel annoyed, angered and hurt by overbearing friends and family members, that they're a bad person. Some reminders:

o Be choosy about what you share. You're not obliged to reveal everything about your life to this person. If your gut tells you that something is better left unsaid, then go with that thought.

o Counseling or coaching can help. If the overbearing person has had a hold on you for your whole life, you may harbor some hostility and resentment. An impartial outsider can often be hugely helpful when you just want to let go of these feelings and move forward with things.

o Different people can serve different purposes in your life. You may have another person you're close to who fulfills you in a different way than this person does. Know that this is perfectly healthy and a way to gain equilibrium in your relationships.

3. Try to put the overbearing personality to constructive use. Sometimes people who want to control everything just don't have enough going on in their own lives. If there's no getting rid of them, at least make their tendencies work for you. Give them a task or project to complete and it might just make them happier.

o Put them in charge. The truth is that most people are not great at leading others or organizing themselves. If there's an event that needs managing, why not put the overbearing person at the helm of the project?

o Offer up the floor. For the times that you're forced to be with them, it's worth keeping the peace by making the overbearing person the center of attention. At least you'll know that it will only be for a little while.

o Learn something from them. Get past the emotional turmoil they've caused you in the past. Recognize that everyone has something to share - even those whose delivery isn't always the smoothest. Who knows... if you listen, you might learn something!

4. Let them go. When all else fails, you can always say goodbye. Sometimes we're just better off losing the baggage that comes with one too many overbearing personalities in our lives. This is why people divorce, change friends, move far away from their families and search for new jobs. You may need to do some serious soul-searching before you make a decision. Know that this is a good and healthy process to put yourself through.

Building Your List With Teleseminars - 7 Reasons Why You Should Use Teleseminars To Build Your List

Holding teleseminars to teach your content to people around the world will increase your business and profits while helping you to build your list. Teleseminars are a way to utilize new media to create and develop your online business. Here are 7 reasons why teleseminars are an excellent way to build your list and develop your business in a new way.

You can hold a free weekly teleseminar to introduce prospects to what you do. By giving them a sample of what your teaching style is like, people will be more likely to want to work with you. On a teleseminar you can find out directly what people want to learn from you on future teleseminars. A teleseminar allows you to get immediate feedback on your content and presentation style. People will become used to the sound of your voice and you will gain credibility more quickly as an expert in your field. You can use your business card as a way to invite people to hear you on a free weekly call to see if they want to work with you further. Instead of offering a free report you will be inviting them to learn directly from you. Providing a curriculum guide will help you to further build a relationship with your listeners. When they print these study guides out they will be a reminder to your listeners about what it is that you do and have to offer them. Teleseminars are a convenient way for you to teach a large group of people at one time. People can be anywhere in the world and will come together to learn from you.

I encourage you to experiment with using teleseminars in your business. You may find that this style of teaching works well for you and increases your credibility and profitability at the same time.
